Our mission is to teach, grow and honor the game of lacrosse throughout the Town of Ashland by providing leadership, guidance, training and structure to all participants.
Youth lacrosse is first and foremost about having fun. Secondly, it is about learning all aspects and positions of the game. AYL philosophy is all players participate equally (i.e., equal playing time) in all games and play together on evenly balanced town teams based on player grade and age. There are NO “stacked” teams, No A, B or C teams and No standings or playoffs in the “Classic” program (Sunday games). Coaches should be teachers of the game and role models focused on player development, teamwork and fundamentals. Having fun is the most important! AYL is an inclusive organization open to all players. We strive to provide a safe, enjoyable learning experience for all participants in an environment not swept up in the pressure-filled, win at all costs mania that is too common in youth sports today. AYL expects all coaches, parents and players to conduct themselves in a “Good Ashland Lacrosse” manner on and off the field exhibiting positive attitude, sportsmanship and focusing on things done well, not poorly. “Select” games may be added for age groups that have high participation and if the opportunity presents itself.
