MBYLL requires all coaches to be certified through US Lacrosse (USL).  Below are the requirements based on previous certification experience.  All new coaches much take the Level 1 clinic first.

 

Coaches currently certified through 2017 (Level 1+ clinic completed in 2016)

Coaches requiring re-certification (Level 1+ clinic completed in 2015)

  • Register as a coach on www.ashlandyouthlacrosse.org
  • Register as a coach on www.mbyll.org
  • CORI certification (coordinated through AYL)
  • Active US Lacrosse membership valid through June 30th, 2017
  • Attend any MBYLL Clinic
    • You must register at www.mbyll.org and complete all pre-requisites up to 36 hours in advance
    • You have multiple options:
      • MBYLL/Trilogy 1.5
      • MBYLL/USL Level 2
      • MBYLL/Trilogy 2.5
    • Clinics run from early January to early April and will be available for selection on www.mbyll.org

Coaches requiring new certification (never certified before)

  • Register as a coach on www.ashlandyouthlacrosse.org
  • Register as a coach on www.mbyll.org
  • CORI certification (coordinated through AYL)
  • Active US Lacrosse membership valid through June 30th, 2017
  • Complete USL's online course: Level 1
  • Complete USL's online course "How to Make Proper Contact"
  • Complete Positive Coaching Alliance's online course: "Double-Goal Coach"
  • Attend a MBYLL Level 1 Clinic
    • You must register at www.mbyll.org and complete all pre-requisites up to 36 hours in advance
    • MBYLL/USL Level 1 (only option)
    • Clinics run from early January to early April and will be available for selection on www.mbyll.org

Important Tips and Reminders

  • After taking any of the online courses (USL 1, USL "Proper Contact", PCA), be sure to save your electronic certificate to your computer for reference and proof of completion (print/save to PDF)
  • Completing all pre-requisites 36 hours prior to attending a clinic will expedite your receiving of coaching card (you will receive your card at the conclusion of the clinic)
  • Experienced renewal candidates are encouraged to take Level 2 and/or Trilogy clinics for advanced education and to take advantage of additionally provided tools (such as the Trilogy coaching portal)
  • Towns should encourage all Classic coaches (Head and Assistant) to become MBYLL certified
  • At least one coach on the sideline is required to possess and visibly wear his/her valid MBYLL Coaching card at all times during Classic games (Sundays)
  • Every adult on the sideline is required to possess and visibly wear his/her valid MBYLL Coaching card at all times during Select games
  • The MBYLL requirements are the baseline for coaching education and all MBYLL coaches are encouraged (and expected) to enhance their coaching education through supplementary training and enrichment (online and in-person courses and clinics).
