AYL follows the MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) rules regarding lightning. Our belief is that coaches, referees and parents need to make a smart choice to postpone or end a game or practice due to weather. Our sole responsibility is to protect the kids. In short:
1. If you hear it. Fear it.
2. If you see it. Flee it.
3. If you end a game or practice, you need to wait 30 minutes from the last clap of thunder or visual lightening before resuming play.
4. Parents, if you are dropping your child off and you think it might storm; stick around so we can get the kids to a safe place.
